If you are a gin enthusiast like I am and have a wild herb garden around, this drink’s for you! My herbs were growing like crazy, so I decided to put them all to good use and make a cocktail with them. The herbal notes of this drink are very well balanced out by the sweetness of the tonic water, making this drink simply amazing.

INGREDIENTS (1 drink)

  • 2 oz dry gin
  • 4-5 oz tonic water
  • 1/2 sprig fresh rosemary (1/2 tbs fresh leaves)
  • 1/2 sprig fresh thyme (1/2 tbs fresh leaves)
  • 1/2 sprig fresh basil (3-5 leaves)
  • 1/2 sprig fresh mint (3-5 leaves)
  • ice
  • more herbs for garnishing

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Add the gin and the herbs to a cocktail shaker or a jar. Roughly crush all the herbs using a muddler. Shake the cocktail shaker or jar vigorously and let the herbs infuse in the liquid for 2-3 minutes afterwards.

Step 2

Add ice to the serving glass, strain the herb-gin mixture in the glass and top it all off with the tonic water. Garnish with more fresh herbs and enjoy!

You may have seen my work on TV, Food Network, NYT Cooking, Food52 and more. I make recipes more fun and accessible for home cooks. I immigrated to the US from Transylvania, Romania—where I lived most of my life—in 2021 to pursue my passion for cooking full-time. Here you’ll find a collection of approachable recipes, from weeknight dinners to desserts, you’ll come back to over and over again. Some of my most popular recipes include my chicken paprikash, orange chicken roast with fennel and shallots or butter beans all vodka. Some recipes are inspired by my Romanian-Hungarian upbringing, and most definitely all come with that Transylvanian resourcefulness! I love a good thrift, so make sure to catch my thrift hauls every Sunday on my Instagram!
